The CSL, developed by Oasis starting in 1995, is a training system software library that provides the capabilities and behavior of a vehicle through reuse of actual vehicle software augmented with training-specific capabilities. Each CSL provides an interface between the training device and vehicle software, thus maintaining a consistent Soldier-Machine Interface (SMI) across the suite of vehicle training platforms. Using the actual software takes advantage of work already performed and reduces the time spent on upgrading the SMI in training devices. With the reduction in effort, time, and cost, training devices are easily kept current with the vehicle operation while also eliminating negative training. Oasis creates the CSLs using an efficient, repeatable process in keeping with its CMMI Level 3 software development rating.
Oasis was the originator of the concept over 20 years ago and has been the prime contractor on the program ever since. Oasis has developed CSLs for the Abrams, Bradley, Stryker, and Wolverine vehicles. CSLs have been used in the Abrams maintenance HOT and DT, CCTT for Abrams and Bradley, the AGTS for Abrams (including Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwaiti variants) and Stryker MGS, the Common Driver Trainer (CDT) for Abrams, and the Bradley COFT. Oasis has created CSL releases for 38 different vehicle releases, saving millions of dollars in training development cost. Oasis’s work on the CSL program demonstrates its commitment to commonality and production and life cycle cost effectiveness.
Oasis was contracted by PEO GCS to develop a common embedded training system which is currently being integrated into the Abrams M1A2 SEP v4 and the Bradley M2A4 with support from Oasis employees. Oasis has also been under contract. by PEO GCS, for the past twenty-two (22) years to develop and maintain the training systems Common Software Library, for the Abrams, Bradley, Stryker, and Wolverine vehicles. The CSL libraries will eventually encompass the support vehicles as well as they enter the world of digital vehicles. The take away from Oasis primary program activities is that Oasis is all about commonality, a true pioneer in the field as it relates to land military vehicles.
