The Common Embedded Training System (CETS) is a Government-owned common reusable software library that provides training specific functionality that when integrated with vehicle software provides immersive embedded training capability by presenting a virtual battlefield through injection of simulated video into the commander’s and gunner’s sights and providing aural cues in the commander’s and gunner’s headsets. When integrated into a vehicle platform, CETS training requires no hardware modifications or kits to be added to the vehicle, providing on-demand training wherever required.
The CETS program supports multiple vehicle platforms and is currently being integrated into the Abrams SEP v3 vehicle, in each situation with assistance from Oasis. The most challenging aspect of the program was to get the Abrams and Bradley Master Gunners and Trainers to agree upon a common solution that met both platform’s training requirements. The opportunity gunnery training capability was developed by Oasis based upon the system and software engineering processes that were initially developed under the CSL program.
